Entourage - Season 5 - Episode 8 - First Class Jerk

First off, I need to start off by saying that Jerry Ferrara (Turtle) is actually dating Jamie-Lynn Sigler (Of Sapranos Fame)  Oddly enough, they met on the set while filming this episode and hit it off.

I had heard Rumors of this, but it has recently been confirmed by Sports Illustrated. I’m proud of my boy representing and pulling some tail!

Honestly after an amazing 7th episode, I would have expected HBO to give Entourage a short Hiatus.  It seemed like the right time.. sort of a mid-season break.  I am really glad they didn’t. This season has been absolutely amazing.

Now for the summary:

The episode begins with the crew making their plans to head back to the mainland after their little stint in Hawaii.  Unfortunately, Turtle must buy one first-class seat and three coach seats in order for all of the boys to get back on the same plane.  Turtle wins a small bet and lands the seat in the front.  Through a twist of fate, he ends up to a recently single Jamie-Lynn Sigler.  She is distraught after a recent brake up, and Turtle does his best to cheer her up during the flight.

After they all land, Turtle’s friends are surprised to see Turtle and Jamie-Lynn still talking.  Once she leaves, Eric and Drama begin harrassing Turtle about the entire situation.  He finally gives in and claims that she gave him a “tug” on the plane.  For the rest of the episode, Drama tells everyone he meets that Turtle is making these wild accusations.

During all of this, Ari is still contemplating the offer he received as Studio Head at Warners.  Dana Gordon is still trying to convince Ari that she should be his number 2.  While Ari is MIA, the entourage receives a call from none other than Josh Weinstein.  The group agrees to meet with Josh but quickly finds out that he is just trying to sandbag them into accepting a television role for Vince.

Ultimately, the episode ends with Ari setting Dana up with the Studio head position.  In turn, she agrees that she will take care of Vince and put him in “Smokejumpers.”  Everyone heads out that night to celebrate the successes of the day and Jamie-Lynn shows up.  She then confronts Turtle about running around town telling everyone about what happened on the plane.  Drama tries to explain that it was him, but Jamie doesn’t listen.  Turns out that he did tell the truth about what happened - and she would have slept with him.

Once again, I need to give it up to Turtle for being able to pull that amazing girl!

Entourage - Season 5 - Episode 7 - “Gotta Look Up to Get Down”

“Gotta Look Up to Get Down”

The season is now in full swing - and Vince is still unemployed.  In an effort to get Vince some much needed cash, Vince agrees to appear in a Dolce & Gabbana ad campaign for 1 million dollars.  The episode continues with the crew heading to the photoshoot to get more information.  Shauna makes the correct introductions while Turtle and Drama head off to find some supermodels.  Eric meets a very tall supermodel who is looking for representation and Drama and Turtle continually strike out.

While this is all going on, Ari attends Alan’s funeral and meets with an Executive from Warners.  Unknown to him, the exec has always liked Ari and offers him the Head of Studio role.  Dana Gordon catches wind and immediately calls Ari wanting a job under him.

Ari heads back to his agency to contemplate his new offer.  When he arrives, he has presents waiting for him which makes Lloyd very suspicious.  In the heat of the moment, Ari decides he’s going to go meet the executive in Europe.

The episode ends with Ari and Vince running into eachother - boarding private jets respectively.

Ari comes clean with Vince and informs him about the offer.  They then head off in separate directions.

This may be my favorite episode this season and I’ll tell you why.  In the closing minutes of this episode, you finally see the relationship that Vince and Ari have developed over the previous 5 seasons.  I don’t know if it was the music, lighting, tone, or cinematography, but this scene really got to me.  (BTW, if anyone knows the song that played in the closing seconds, please comment and let me know. I want to hear it again) Anyway, you realize that these two have developed a friendship out of their business relationship.  They really do honestly care for one another. This theme of friendship really got to me.. and I’m glad it did.

HBO airs Entourage sundays at 9 PM

::UPDATE::

Special thanks to JGondek21 for letting me know the song during the closing scene.  The song is “Fake Plastic Trees” by Radiohead.

This was an interesting episode for me to watch.  Entourage has began falling more into the “Dramidy” class as the cast and show have grown.  This was the first time we’ve had to deal with the death of a minor character in the series.  I have mixed feelings about how it was handled.

The episode start with Ari continuing his attempts to land Vince a role.  In a somewhat last ditch effort at getting Vinnie in Smokejumpers, Ari convinces his nemesis and Warners exec. Alan Gray to play a round of golf.  Alan accepts but has two guests accompanying him, His golf pro Phil Mickelson and Ari’s least favorite person Bob.

Meanwhile, Vince and Eric turn on the TV to find their childhood friend Dom in a highspeed chase in LA.  Dom asks Vince for help with bail, not knowing that Vince is pretty much bankrupt.  Eric, who has the money, agrees to help Dom out but is very suspicious.  Ultimately, it is revealed that Dom has changed and he now has a family to care for.

Back on the Golf course, Ari ends up losing his bet with Alan.  Alan, in his victory, begins bashing both Vince and Ari.  His tyrade is cut short with an untimely heart attack.

Alans character dies.

As I said before, this was an interesting episode.  It’s the first time the characters have had to deal with real death in the TV show, but it also opens up the possibility for Vince to actually attach himself with Smokejumpers.   I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

HBO - Entourage Season 5 - Episode 5 - “Tree Trippers”

Wow.  Vince, Drama, Turtle, Eric, and Ari taking shrooms in the middle of the desert was unexpected amazing entertainment.  This episode was a nice break from the drama that is currently ensuing on this season of HBO’s hit series Entourage.  I loved it. In the beginning of the episode, Johnny Drama proposes that they go to Joshua Tree National Park to find guidance pertaining to Vince’s struggling career.  Vince has reached a crossroads in his career.  Does he take the money and do Benji, or does he wait and continue to struggle?  The episode is pretty intense as each character handles their mushroom experience differently.  Ari disappears to make a phone call to his wife but gets lost in the desert.  Eric forgets how to talk, and the others just go a little crazy.  Meanwhile, Lloyd decides to throw a party at Ari’s house since he and his wife are on their respective vacations.  Vince decides that Benji is the best bet but reluctantly changes his mind when he sees a group of firefighters on the side of the road.  The episode ends with Ari’s wife returning home to find a big gay party in her backyard.

“Fire Sale”

The 5th season is now in full swing.  Eric’s script about fire fighters has become a hit in Hollywood.  Ari has finally shown interest and wants Vince in as the lead.  An unanticipated bidding war temporarily pushes Edward Norton’s company out of the running.  Meanwhile, Drama has a guest appearance on “the View”.  Unknown to him, the rest of the cast from 5 towns brings their counterparts to the recording.  On camera, Johnny has an emotional breakdown and tells his lost love how much he misses her.

Vince and Ari go to all the major studio heads to discuss the script and possible roles to help Vince rebound in his career.  Two things are certain, everyone loves Eric’s script, and no one wants to take a chance on giving Vince a lead roll… except for Benji (the dog movie).

Hesitantly, Vince realizes that his best bet for a rebound would be to take a secondary role in this movie and use this role to rebound.  Ari agrees with Vince’s idea and they agree in principle to sell the script and get Vince his comeback role.

Eric, excited about selling the script, contacts the writers about the sale.  They are sad to hear that Ed Norton has backed out, but agree to let the deal be closed.  As the entourage is leaving, Eric receives a call from Ed Nortons rep saying that they want to buy the script for twice what Ari had gotten them.

Like the other episodes of this season, I really liked the tempo the series has gotten back to.  I’m glad we’ve gotten into the juice of the season.  We’re starting to see the conflict that is developing between Vince and Eric as they try to succeed.  Honestly, the boozing Drama was entertaining for a few episodes, but it’s really starting to wear thin.  I get that he’s upset, but an entire season of this Chase brother drinking in every episode will definitely get old.  I’m also glad to see that Eric is becoming a successful player in Hollywood, even with out any help from Ari.

Will Eric sell the script for Ari or Ed Norton?  Will Vince get a role?  What is Drama going to do?

I’m really excited to see how this is going to play out.

Entourage - Season 5 - Episode 3

The 3rd episode of HBO’s hit series Entourage aired last night.  I love it.  ”The all out fall out” was a fantastic episode.  Vince almost going bankrupt. Check. Drama becoming an alcoholic. Check.  Ari wrecking a Ferrari in a race with D-bag Adam Davies. Check.

This episode really did have everything.  I’ve said it before, but I am stoked that the series has finally gotten back to its roots.  As much fun as it is to watch rich people do stupid outrageous things, it is more entertaining to watch drama.

The premise of this episode follows Vince’s attempt to avoid filing for bankruptcy by showing up at a sweet-16 party for $200,000. Meanwhile, Ari’s wife has just bought him a brand new cherry red Ferrari.  While Ari is out on a test drive in his new dream car, he runs into his are nemesis Adam Davies.  They place a small bet and the race is on.  The race ends with Ari driving his ride into the back of a truck.  Vince shows up to the sweet-16 party with Eric, Turtle, and Drama.  Drama, still upset from his breakup befriends a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue.  As Vince is serenading the birthday girl, Drama decides to join Vince and make the song a duet.  The episode ends with Johnny puking his brains out… all over the birthday cake.

Will Vince get paid or will he have to file bankruptcy?  What’s happening with this great script that Eric found.  What will Drama do next?

Entourage - Season 5 Episode 2  - ”Unlike a Virgin”

Well, I must say that my previous statement about Entourage going back to its roots is absolutely correct.  HBO is the best channel ever! This episode was just as impressive as the premiere last weekend.  I honestly believe that the series has resurrected it’s roots.  Maybe its just the masochist in me that enjoys watching Vince crawl his way back out of obscurity, but I’m totally digging this season.

This episode covers quite a bit in the limited time they have.  Vince runs into his old flame Justine Chapin (no longer a vigrin), and finally becomes insecure about his current situation when she pawns him off on one of her friends.  Vince, more aware of his mediocrity than ever, pays a visit to Ari and finds out the cold hard truth. Ari comes clean and tells him that he isn’t the greatest actor - and there is no guarantee that he can recover from the damage he’s done to his career.. because he’s not willing to play the ‘hollywood game’.  Vince responds saying that he is ready to play the game and will do whatever it takes to get back on top.

Meanwhile, Drama is still in constant contact with his long distance love Jacqueline.  The crew is constantly making fun of him and he’s beginning to think that she’s becoming a crazy girlfriend.  Johnny tells a little white lie about where he is and then cant get ahold of Jacqueline after that.  He begins panicking, thinking that she is out partying and starts calling her nonstop.  He finally gets ahold of her and finds out that her friend was in an accident.  She now believes he’s the crazy one.  relationship ended.

On top of all of this, Eric has found a new script that he thinks Vince would be great in.  There is only one catch.. it’s an indie script and Ari wont touch it with a ten foot poll. Eric and Vince talk and decide that if Vince can’t be in the movie, they should at least try and sign the writers of the script to boost their management company.

Eric meets with the writers and offers them a deal and since Ari won’t help him with the script, he meets with a familiar agent about selling the rights.

The episode ends with a depressed Drama drinking some Jack Daniels in a car with turtle.  Vince returns to the car with Justine ready to have a good time and get his career back on track.

What a great season!

Entourage - Season 5 - Episode 1

Entourage had it’s season 5 premiere on sunday. Let me say that it was FAN-tastic.  For the first time in a season and a half, I think Entourage is finally headed back to its roots.  The episode starts with critical damnation of the yet to be released Medellin.  The episode then truly begins with Vince and Turtle hiding out in a Mexican paradise with plenty of hot women, food, and alcohol.

Back on the home front of Los Angeles, Erich is now representing an up and coming comedian played by Bow Wow, but hears through an ecstatic Ari that Producer Carl Ertz wants to offer Vince a role in a new action movie called ‘Danger Beach’.

Johnny Drama’s Show 5 Towns has aired 50+ episodes and is still very popular.  His relationship with his french love Jacqueline is in full swing via a webcam connection on his Macbook Pro. Drama’s fame seems to have started going to his head as he wont let a photographer shoot him from the right side.  This ‘drama’ (no pun intended) is ended when erich calls Johnny to find the location of Vince’s Secluded Paradise.  Johnny quickly bolts to his aid saying, “Baby Bro is in trouble?”

Ari, Vince, and Drama fly to Mexico to convince Vince to come back to the states and meet with Ertz.  After the interview, it is revealed that Ertz just wanted to meet with Vince in order to get another actor to drop his price.

The episode ends with Turtle and Drama driving up to the producers house, busting out a 5 Iron on his Mercedes window and Drama leaving a dead fish on the hood.

“Aquaman’s back!” - Drama

I’ll say it again.  The way the characters were interacting with eachother felt more like the classic episodes of the first two seasons.  I really think each character is back in their element.  Minus Drama, each character is having issues they must overcome.  This should help develop the dynamic the cast lost in season 3 and 4.

My issue with Entourage is always the same.  The episodes are way to short.  Thats why I love waiting for the DVD’s.  I want to watch a block of 2 or 3 episodes of entourage at a time.  24 minutes of the show, once a week, is not enough!

::UPDATE::  Episode 1 review here

So, In case you haven’t heard.. there’s this little show about these guys who live in Los Angeles.  One of them is kind of famous and the others basically live off of him.

One thing is for sure. HBO knows how to make a television series.  From Rome, to the Sapranos, they make great TV!

ENTOURAGE IS COMING BACK ON SUNDAY!

The show, created by Mark Wahlberg, follows a Hollywood Star named Vince Chase and his boys around.  At the end of Season 4, we got to watch Vince’s Passion project, Medillin, completely flop at Cannes.  This event is expected to have major implications on the cast, since Vince invested everything he owned into his film about  Pablo Escobar.

So far, there are 12 episodes scheduled.  HBO may order more however.  (lets hope they do)

There are a lot of rumors about what is going to happen this season, but we do know that Vince and Turtle will start the season in Mexico.

Other rumors include:

- Dom (Domenick Lombardozzi) returns.  I personally hope this isn’t true.  I hated the character when he was introduced in season 3 and I don’t think that there is any way they could repair the damage that the character has received.  I think the fans spoke correctly the first time and I was glad when he left.  Bringing him back, temporarily or as a permanent fixture, would be a bad move.

- Saigon is back.  I think this would be awesome. I loved the Saigon / Turtle subplots.  They really developed Turtle’s Character and brought him into his own.  I think the return of Saigon in some form or fashion would be a great way to give Turtle some extra attention.  I also really liked Saigons songs so that will also be a plus.

- Sloan will be back for at least one episode.  The fact that she’s played by Emmanuelle Chriqui is hot.  This chick exudes sexiness, so any screen time she gets is fine by me.  Hopefully they work her into a great relationship plot with Eric.

- Eric will have a new client.  His name is Charlie, an up and coming comedian, that will be played by the rapper Bow wow.  I really don’t have an opinion about this.  It could go either way. I like the idea of Eric getting new clients as long as it doesn’t sway too far from keeping the crew in tact.  They did a great job with Anna Faris, so who knows how this will go.

- Johnny ‘Drama’ will continue to have success with his show.  He will also find a relationship and a break-up.  and will have a huge blow up on the T.V. show the view in front of Sherri Shepherd, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and Whoopi Goldberg.

- Other Cameos confirmed: T.I.  Mark Wahlberg, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Tony Bennet, Phil Mickelson, and many more.

This looks to be an exciting season with a ton of action.  I will post weekly roundups after each episode.
