Terrell Owens vs. Ed Werner

Anyone who follows professional football knows about the Dallas Cowboys and Terrell Owens.  For the last three years, ESPN has been baiting the historically troubled Wide Receiver into causing disarray within the Cowboys Organization.  The World Wide Leader in Sports has been having Ed Werder, the reporter who became famous for chronicling the fallout between Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson over a decade ago, dig up as much dirt as possible on Americas Team.  In fact, T.O. has stopped responding to any question Ed Werder asks.  In every conference since October, whenever Werder has asked Owens a question, his only response has been, “Next Question.”

In the post game conference after the Cowboys demolished the Giants during a crucial Sunday night game, Owens disgust of Ed Werder culminated while being interviewed by NBC’s Kremer.

T.O.: “I think that it was a lack of professionalism on Ed Werder’s behalf just to come up with some of that stuff. Honestly, you know, I don’t know where none of this stuff came from.”

Immediately after Terrell said those amazing words, Romo, Witten, and everyone else on screen began smiling like school children.  If the Team is having issues, they are doing a great job of covering it up.  The three famous players doing a post game interview together showed the type of unity that must have Ed Werder very nervous about his future as a reporter in Dallas.

Dropped Wii Fit for 24 Hour Fitness Membership – Week 1

Well, it’s officially been one week since I purchased my 24 hour fitness membership… and I hit the gym FOUR times. I’m not going to lie, it was difficult, and I’m very sore.. but so far I’m loving it.  Going in, I was expecting the gym experience to be a lot different.  I honestly thought gyms were for meatheads and jerks, but every single person that goes to the gym is there for the same reason, to live a better more healthy lifestyle.  After my first hour at 24 I stopped worrying about everyone else and starting worrying about myself.

Honestly, I’ve spent my first week getting acquainted with the machines and weights.  I need to learn proper technique before I can start working really hard… especially with my chest.  On top of that, I’ve pretty much changed my diet completely.  I’ve decided to take the Jared approach.  I’m eating 3 6 inch “Oven Roasted Chicken Breast” subs w/o dressing spread throughout the day.  Hopefully that helps too.

According to the scale, I weigh 197 after the first week.  I want to lose 17 pounds, but I also want to put on some muscle. I don’t think it will be too difficult, it just takes time and effort.

Also, I used my Wii Fit yesterday, as a scale.

I’ll a more concise update next week with what I actually did in the gym.

I dropped my Wii Fit for a 24 hr Membership

First off, I’d like to apologize for my lack of updates lately.  I have been very busy here in Texas.  I have successfully found a great new job and have also been making some new friends and trying to study for the GMAT.  I’ve also made the decision that my future posts will not include personal rants or anything that may be considered NSFW.

Now for my post.

A few months ago, I wrote a little article here on thispointofview talking about how amazing my new Wii Fit was.  It was going to revolutionize my life and help me drop the pounds!  Nope.  Like most consumers, I purchased this $100.00 item, used it a couple times and then let it collect dust.  I’m not saying that I couldn’t have lost weight using it, I am saying that a combination of laziness and lack of interest in the platform kept me from achieving any goal I set out with the game.

After purchasing the Wii Fit and hearing countless hours of bantering from my buddies with Gym memberships, I made a promise that once I found a new job I would get a Gym Membership at our local 24 hour fitness with my first paycheck.  Holding true to my promise, I purchased a membership and have worked out both days!

Now, I know what you’re thinking… This is going to be like the Wii Fit.  I will use it for a couple of days and as soon as the novelty ends, I will be wasting $29.00 a month on something I won’t ever use again.  This is where you’re wrong :)

Oddly enough a very very large percentage of my close friends all have gym memberships and actively work out.  They have taken it upon themselves to make it a priority to make sure I have a workout buddy.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I have the best group of friends in the world.

I plan on doing a weekly update of my progress for anyone interested in seeing if my dedication works.  I’m not going to lie though, I know it’s going to be difficult – and I am currently more sore than I have ever been before in my life.  But the soreness actually feels good, my spirits are up, and I already feel like I have more energy.  It may all just be a more optimistic outlook on life, but whatever it is, it’s working.

I still plan on keeping my Wii Fit – the games are fun, it’s a great scale, and it is entertaining in small spurts… but as a primary workout tool, it’s just not right for me.  I am in no way knocking the product, it may still be great for others.

Now, I’m going to go Jam to a little Jack’s Mannequin and catch some Z’s, I have a busy day at work tomorrow.

Oh, btw I met a new amazing girl.. don’t know where it’s going – Apparently she’s a heartbreaker, but I’m willing to take my chances, but that’s another post.

Republican for Obama – Why I voted the way I did.

On November 4th, 2008 History was was made.  I am a Rupublican who voted for the winner.

I have been lucky enough to have been able to vote in the last 3 elections.  Growing up, I have always been a Republican, not because my parents were, but because my views coincided more closely with that of the Republican party.  I also am typically pro-life and pro-defense.  Anyway, I voted for George W. Bush in both previous elections.  I proudly stood my my votes up until about 2 years ago.  The mistakes this nation has made under this administration are not necessarily all W’s fault, but there were things he could have controlled that he didn’t.  Going into this election, like most people I was ready for change.  I thought that change would come from within the GOP.  I always respected John McCain as a maverick and a leader.  I voted for him in the primaries and thought he offered America it’s best chance for success in the next 4 years.  Then something funny happened. McCain added Sarah Palin to the ticket as his Vice Presidential choice.  Even after this I continued to support the Party thinking that maybe they actually knew what they were doing.  As the election grew closer, it became apparent to me that the party I love so dearly has lost sight of the American people.  The Grand Old Party was ending.  Ultimately, my blind loyalty to my party started to fade… and on November 4th I voted for a democrat for the first time – President-elect Barrack Obama.

Hopefully he doesn’t screw this country up even more.  I have some MAJOR issues with a lot of his policies including healthcare and certain aspects of abortion, but I hope that he doesn’t have a major opportunity to overhaul these points – it seems like no president ever does. ( I am all for healthcare reform – just against socialized healthcare.. it doesnt work. trust me I know.)

America needs inspiration, a leader who can put more than two sentences together without fumbling over his own words.  I leader with passion and poise. Someone who can provide hope to the hopeless and bring America back into a respectful position in the world.  Barrack Obama provides these abilities.  He will help repair the damaged view the rest of the World has of America.  The election of Barrack Obama has shown the Globe that we are just as tired of what has gone on as they are.  No longer will America be isolated – and that is necessary for current and future American generations.

On a side note, I voted straight republican down the rest of the ballot. I still am very conservative.. but it really was time for change.
