Entourage – Season 5 – Episode 7 – “Gotta Look Up to Get Down”
20 Oct 2008
The season is now in full swing – and Vince is still unemployed. In an effort to get Vince some much needed cash, Vince agrees to appear in a Dolce & Gabbana ad campaign for 1 million dollars. The episode continues with the crew heading to the photoshoot to get more information. Shauna makes the correct introductions while Turtle and Drama head off to find some supermodels. Eric meets a very tall supermodel who is looking for representation and Drama and Turtle continually strike out.
While this is all going on, Ari attends Alan’s funeral and meets with an Executive from Warners. Unknown to him, the exec has always liked Ari and offers him the Head of Studio role. Dana Gordon catches wind and immediately calls Ari wanting a job under him.
Ari heads back to his agency to contemplate his new offer. When he arrives, he has presents waiting for him which makes Lloyd very suspicious. In the heat of the moment, Ari decides he’s going to go meet the executive in Europe.
The episode ends with Ari and Vince running into eachother – boarding private jets respectively.
Ari comes clean with Vince and informs him about the offer. They then head off in separate directions.
This may be my favorite episode this season and I’ll tell you why. In the closing minutes of this episode, you finally see the relationship that Vince and Ari have developed over the previous 5 seasons. I don’t know if it was the music, lighting, tone, or cinematography, but this scene really got to me. (BTW, if anyone knows the song that played in the closing seconds, please comment and let me know. I want to hear it again) Anyway, you realize that these two have developed a friendship out of their business relationship. They really do honestly care for one another. This theme of friendship really got to me.. and I’m glad it did.
HBO airs Entourage sundays at 9 PM
::UPDATE::
Special thanks to JGondek21 for letting me know the song during the closing scene. The song is “Fake Plastic Trees” by Radiohead.
The lyrics can be found here.

i really think that ari as an agent is the best but i dont see him running another role, because if he accepts i thinks ari could appear less in the series and i really dont want that, he is entourage haha

Everyone I’ve talked to doesn’t think think that ari is going to take the job because of the relationship ari and the crew have developed over the years… but I think when Vince was looking out the window at Ari boarding the other plane then closes the shutter that it was total foreshadowing that he’s closing that chapter and is going to move forward… but I don’t really understand why Ari can’t still work as Vince’s agent and be the studiohead at the same time?
Can’t wait for the rest of the season, that last episode really got to me as well. Easilly the best show ever, in my opinion (never thought a show would be better than seinfeld…)

The reason he can’t represent him and be his agent is the whole conflict of interest thing. Other “acters” etc. could argue Vince gets preferential treatment from Ari the studiohead.
I think Ari SHOULD take the job. Ambition baby! That’s what Ari’s all about! If VINCE wasn’t such a whiner he’d be happy for him and coun’t HIS lucky stars. Like Ari said, he’d be in a position to get Vince any movie for the rest of his career!!! What could be better than that?!
Besides a studio head is still a demanding job, as is being an agent. It’s all hustling, and that’s what we love Ari for. No reason he can’t still do that and have just as much face time. Also don’t forget, the season is coming to a close, and Entourage, though I love it, can’t last more than another 2 seasons, that’s an HBO shows longtime running average!
Ari take the job!
Vince gets everything he want!!
Who loses? Hell maybe Drama could even get a real studio second lead….

This episode was definatly the best episode in probably the last two seasons. The end scene got to me aswell.A few things to look at here if ari takes the job ad warners then he can first put vince in Smokejumpers then I wanna be sedated the ramones project alan screwed vince on. But i do not think ari will take the job i hope he does but…. Possibly Dana Gordon will take it or ari will take it put vince in some movies then his wife will complain he is working to much or something else and he will return to the agency but who knows

Ari gets an offer,
I just love Ari, i think he his entourage.
You could think that Ari taking the job has studio head, that we would see less of him and that would be bad for Entourage.
But think about it,if the writers do it right, this could take entourage to an other level…
the pivate jets, the cars, the high life ,the shady stars from all over the world. this could take entourage to an an other level if done in the way the entourage writer know how to do it. i can t wait to see what s going to happen next…
Go Ari go !

I agree that the episode was one of the best in recent memory. The one thing I did not like was the whole gay moment with vince and the designer. I am not a homophob or anti gay but the show is a straight mans fanstasy life in hollywood. The idea that the model was fired because of jealousy over vince attention could have been written differently. Other than that the episode was great and continued the entourage tradition of ending with a great song and leaving you wanting more. I am happy the show was picked up for another season but do tend to agree that it will end shortly there after. At least with HBO’s recent success with the Sex in the City movie and the rumors of a Sopranos movie in the works, we can all get what we want with an episode of Entourage lasting more than 25 minutes in the form of a full length feature film, would that be something that you would be interested in?
