Mark Cuban, Josh Howard, and Racism in America
19 Sep 2008
What a crazy mixed up world we live in today. For the first time in history, we have a Black man running nominated by a major party for President of the United States. Now, people say Racism is dead in America. Being a middle-class white guy in north texas, I honestly haven’t noticed much racism at all in my life, so I never really payed attention to it. This morning, Mark Cuban brought some much needed attention to the race issue in America.
As you all know, Josh Howard, (Dallas Mavericks) has been getting into quite a bit of trouble recently. From throwing a party, talking about smoking marijuana, getting arrested for speeding, and now this National Anthem issue…
Mark Cuban (Dallas Mavericks Owner) Has been getting a lot of flack for still keeping Josh on the roster. He has posted a response about this National Anthem escapade on his blog. He has also posted emails some ignorant people sent him as well.
No Matter how much of an idiot Josh is, some of the emails I read this morning honestly make me sick. There is no room for people to write the type of things they have written. I commend Mr. Cuban for bringing this important issue back into focus.
::UPDATE:: had to correct above statement. Jesse Jackson Ran in 1984.

I’m sorry this hits some of you good white folks hard but yes racisim is still alive and thriving in America. I know that shocks some of you, but we’ve been saying it all along. Those people that emailed Cuban are not some crazy minority. they are everywhere!

You have a point, It was very surprising to see the kinds of things people said in these emails. I really don’t know what to say

Racism is Alive in America .. “I don’t celebrate that sh*t, I am Black!” – you know what? After 44 years of living, I have noticed 90% of any and all racism I have ever witnessed as been FROM the black community – It’s terrible that Josh states he doesn’t celebrate the National Anthem, and it’s great many AMERICANS are onboard with the fact that that is out of line – but WHERE are the media and others when it comes to pointing out the “because I’m black” part of it? So, is Josh saying ALL BLACKS don’t celebrate our National Anthem? Where/What in his life did he get a comment like that? I want more info on that part of the comment. Wake up America – there is Racism in America, and it’s coming from the oppressed, Slaves that something like 100,000 white Union Soldiers gave thier lives to end.
